KATHMANDU — A Nepalese newspaper is reporting the alleged mastermind of a massive kidney harvesting ring in India has been arrested in Nepal.
The Himalayan Times quotes police sources in Nepal in saying that 40-year-old Amit Kumar was arrested at a hotel in the southern town of Sauraha, about 60 kilometres from the Indian border town of Raxaul.
The Kathmandu-based newspaper says Mr. Kumar and an associate, identified as Manish Singh, checked into the hotel this morning under Mr. Singh's name.
Police showed up at the hotel shortly after and arrested Mr. Kumar, but Mr. Singh managed to escape, the newspaper reports.
